blocked shoulder, spalla congelata….. i trattamenti fisioterapici adatti
The spalla congelata, also called Frozen Shoulder O adhesive capsulitis, is a shoulder disease that causes pain and stiffness. Over time, una spalla congelata diventa molto difficile da muovere e trattare.
In queste articolazioni malate in genere scorre meno fluido sinoviale.
The hallmark of this condition is not being able to move the shoulder (both alone, both with the help of someone else). This disease develops in three stages:
freezing
At the stage of “freezing”, the pain increases inexorably and progressively. As soon as the pain gets worse, the shoulder loses movement. Freezing usually lasts from 6 weeks to 9 months.
Frozen shoulder
Painful symptoms can actually improve at this stage, but the stiffness remains. Durante i 4-6 months of phase “frozen”, daily activities can be very difficult.
Thawing
Shoulder movement slowly improves during the “thaw”. The complete return to normal of strength and movement typically lasts from 6 messi a 2 years.
Symptoms
Pain from a frozen shoulder is usually very dull. It is typically strongest in the morning and when moving the arm. The pain is usually localized over the outer shoulder area and sometimes in the arm.
Trattamento
Frozen shoulder typically improves over time, although it can take up to 3 years. The goal of the treatment is to control pain and restore movement and strength through physiotherapy.
Physiotherapy.
Specific exercises will help restore movement. These can be performed under the supervision of a physical therapist or via a home program. Therapy includes shoulder stretching and mobilization. Sometimes heat is used to help warm and soften the shoulder before stretching exercises.
