For a long time now we find the word “posturology” in our vocabulary, the meaning simply is the science of posture.
Posture is formed in part by heredity , by the way we lead our lives, by cultural formation, by memorized physical and emotional trauma, by the kind of work and sports we do, by how we breath, by how we stand on our feet and in part how we pose to ourselves and to others.
This makes clear how each moment of our life influences our posture. Often we do not realize that one shoulder is more pulled up than the other, the head tilted always to the same side or the posture of our feet and knees in valgus or varus positions. This is not because we are not interested in our body’s posture but mostly because of a lack of awareness. The postural re-education teaches the correct alignment integrating movements, sensations, thoughts and imagination.
The most important points of postural re- education are
- To understand which parts of the body are moving in which way
- To imagine the movement and realize it in the right sequence
The postural alignment has to be integrated in normal life, to gain a better and more elegant posture and to increase wellness and relaxation as well as making movements in a more efficient and effective way.
